Datepicker vis studio 2k8 mysql

Hi im creating a windows form application (for desktop not web) using visual studio 2008, as i prefer MySQL i am using it as the data source on this occasion.

i have created my form and done all the usual bits i need to do however ive come to the point where i have a date input field and i cannot get it to assign a dataset to it.

i have a field in my table called ContactDate which is type 'date' , aloowed NULL Not Primary, however i cannot get MS VS2k8 to recognise it! it simply has a stop sign next to it on the Data sources tab, i iwsh to assign a DateTimePicker to it, can anybody help???
