I honestly have no idea what you mean by what storage engine. I'm not a DB guy at all. We have an app that logs Windows Server events into one DB and our firewall syslog into another. We had them on MS SQL and it grows by 1GB and 5GB daily. It was bringing our SQL box to it's knees. So rather than license another copy of MS SQL we decided to use the supported MySQL. Only after our conversion did the vendor tell us that we were on our own for MySQL maintenance.
