Yes, I know that they are not, but first I need to test the theory of connecting.

The SQL commands after that I will look into.

So in my scenario, the application connects to the MSSQL by using .\instancename

It is on the DBMS is on the local machine, what is the equivalent to an instance name in MySQL?

That is what I have been researching and can't find an answer for.

Using my scenario, what would you think the connection string should be? Let's not look at a LAN install yet, just local to the app and the computer.
