How to echo sql stmts on mysql?

How to make the mysql command prompt display (i.e. echo) the sql statement that I just ran. For example, I ran the following at the mysql prompt:
tee abc.txt
source s1.sql

But the output file abc.txt does not contain the sql statements that were executed. If there are errors, I have difficulty in tracing which sql statement in s1.sql caused the error. Any help would be much appreciated. thx.
