Hi there, I've just seen this thread, so hope it isn't too late to answer. You could be using open source software to manage the migration to MySQL. And would need to get a tool that has connectors to Sybase. I'd look at open source tools such as Talend
http://www.talend.com/ Talend has connectors to both databases, good software and a great community with active contributors. Plus you can use it afterwards to manage your MySQL database. Hope this helped :-)
