Memory Management Architecture in MySQL vs DB2

We are investigating completely moving off of DB2 and moving to MySQL for both production and our datawarehouse.

For production however, we have a large OLTP application with a hige number of writes and reads from the database concurrently (we are in the online games space).

The CTO has asked specifically to understand the memory management architecture of MySQL as compared to DB2 (with irs shared buffer pools, paging etc etc.)

Could someone point me to technical documentaiton which will outline this information in detail ?

Thanks,
Daryl.
