Run a query or use view instead of importing entire table to Access

Hello,

Is it possible to create/populate an Access table using a query on a MySQL database? I can connect via ODBC, but I don't want to import the entire table, as it's rather large, and only a small subset is needed.

The problem I'm trying to solve is: I'm trying to make a subset of the data in the MySQL database available to a group who does not have permissions or a need to access the entire db. I'd like to save a view of what this group needs to a shared drive where they have access. Taking a look at doing this with access, but if anyone can suggest an alternative method, that would be helpful as well (open source or MSOffice alternatives only)

Thanks!
