rusty dba with questions

for 3 years now i support SQL server 2000 while state programmers program the vb code on the front end, i am a little rusty on programming front end programs.

My contractor's sister company is using access with the switchboard for 5 to 10 users at the same time is complaining about how slow access is. How are other dba using mysql in the place of ms access for multiple users to enter data without being at the mercy of the access jet engine really designed for one user?

Can you point me in the right direction? I used to know access inside out and know the back end of SQL 2000 but i am impress with mysql's productivity and want to start using it with dreamweaver and migrate some people from access so they can enter data real time and have limited down-time.

sorry about the long post
