Maybe give us more info on how you're searching and what it's doing.

Have you looked at the free MYSQL GUI Tools ? The Query browser offers
a way to do queries on your database, using SQL language. It'll will
also store the commands for later retrieval and has other features.

You find it a faster alternative to using MS Access (or until you get
the Access portion straightened out).
