Hi All,

I'm a newbie to this forum, jointed after my client wanted to have access frontend to MySQL backend.

My job is to develop the access client that will reside on the PC, whilst another colleague will do the web interface .

Mu problem is that I keep encountering timeouts and every so often I get the message in Access :-

“ODBC –call failed. [MySQL][ODBC 5.1 Driver][mysqld-5.0.77]MySQL server has gone away (#2006)”

Then I lose connectivity.

I have tried all ideas from this forum, but no joy. Does anyone have a solutions this timeout.

Secondly, when I do have a connection, I seem to be have probems with dates. Do anyone know how to handle dates when linking to MySQL tables.

Regards
