I spoke too soon. The fields are not unsigned.
I downloaded the dbForge program and that did the same thing, imported the -1 and changed it to a 1. That program had a Boolean option (I tried both True;False and -1;0) but it still changed the -1 to a 1.
I'm currently using Navicat and I queried their firm about the problem.
