You can look at ETL tools to help in the connection. ETL tools like Talend
http://www.talend.com/ allow you to work on different databases because the software has connectors to a number of databases -I think around 400. So it can deal with your issues and help in the connection. Plus you will be able to manage the quality of your data through data quality and MDM tools. If you try it, tell us what you think. It s done a reasonable job for myself.
