Felix Laughlin asked in December 19, 2012 about using MYSQL for a Bonsai collection. This post is now "locked" so I cannot respond to it directly.

It has worked nicely because I have an entry for each bonsai and there I have (1) notes on what I have done in the care and improvement of the tree and (2)successive photos of the tree taken over time. However, I am having problems with the database which has gotten large and unwieldy, and am looking for a better way going forward. An IT expert suggested Mysql which I am unfamiliar with."

My intitial reaction, if you (Felix) are still checking the forum, is that you should not be having this type of issue with Access. The issue may be in how you are "storing" the photos. Photos are not stored in the database itself, but are referred too.
