Additional information:
I installed MySQL Administrator to check what was going on.
The query I'm testing is based on one table left joined to 5 other tables, all indexed properly.
Results are sorted on one field, and filtered by "IS NOT NULL" on the same field.

In SQL Direct mode, my Access query generates 2 MySQL queries (why not 1? but that is another question) and gives result in less than a second. Excellent.
In Access normal mode (no pass-through), the same query generates around 500 queries during approximately 20 seconds.

What happens? Why Access is generating so many queries?

Strange...
