Lost Connection

Que tal Amigos del Foro, tengo instalado 1 servidores mysql 5.0.22 y tengo 2 sucursales que se conectan remotamente a la base de datos, cuando ejecuto una consulta relativamente grande el motor me devuelve un mensaje "Lost Connection", necesito solucionar este problema, si me puede ayudar con esto le agradeseria muchosimo saludos cordiales a todos.-
