Re: IF YOU'RE ASKING FOR HELP WITH A QUERY ...
1) Further to making your queries legible, you may find that an sql formatter like
this one is helpful for laying out more complicated queries for readability as well.
2) A decent thread title will tell people different things:
a) whether or not the post is relevant to solving a similar problem
b) whether or not it would be useful to read if i'm a user trying to help the poster solve their problem
2) Further to that, asking decent questions, with well laid out examples is more likely to get you an answer, even a long question and in reply, an in-depth answer. See
How to ask questions the smart way .
4) Don't cross post in the forums, ask in the most relevant area of the forums. If you are unsure, put it in the general or newbie categories. We can move the thread for you.
5) Don't post questions on triggers, stored procedures, replication etc. in the newbie area. You know you aren't asking beginner's questions, don't flood the forum. The other forums exist so you can get advanced answers in a timely way, from people more knowledgeable with the advanced concepts
6) Finally, if you are posting a question, strip your question down to the SQL only, don't post PHP, C#, Java etc. (unless in that particular forum) with your question. Get your query working and returning the correct results first. Then any errors introduced after that part would be from the front end application and thus easier to trouble shoot.
