Изменение структуры таблиц

Доброго времени суток, подскажите возможно ли сделать следующее без потери данных:
существеует таблица people с столбцами id и city,необходимо перенести city в отдельную таблицу с отношением многие к многим: в таблице people остается только id, в таблице city два столбца id, name и в таблице people_city id_city и id_book
