I SO Screwed up!!!

I had a red hat 8.0 box running a Mysql data server, everything was working well. I copied all the files out of the data folder on to a cd. I then built a new MySQL server and installed MySQL 5.0. Got it running and copied the files from the old machine to it. When I try and start the New MySQL it fails. I knew then that I was in big trouble. I tryed to rebuild the old Red Hat 8.0 and put the files into the data dir. but I still can't get it running! There is about two long years wortht of data in these files, and I have always just copied the files for backup. Does anyone got any ideas how I can copy/import this data back onto any friggin machine to get to my data!!!!!
PLEASE HELP!!!!
