Spil Games has over 80 database servers running, which handle as much as 60.000 queries per second and 3 billion queries a day! As a DBA (mainly MySQL) you will be part of a department of 8, consisting of both DBA’s and Datawarehouse Engineers who work closely together on different projects. You will be responsible for integrity, confidentiality, and availability of the data, by setting up and maintaining the systems that hold the data and monitor it’s important functions.

Working as a DBA at Spil Games, you’ll be encouraged to be creative and look for innovative solutions. About the Engineering Department

IT Infrastructure & Engineering is a multi-disciplinary department consisting of the following teams: Databases, Performance, Infrastructure, Software, and Operations. At the core of our technology stack you'll find the Spil Hosting Platform, which we as a department jointly develop and operate. It is a geographically distributed, Linux-based, highly available, and highly scalable system, which consists of a large fleet of MySQL servers, private cloud, map/reduce and memcache clusters, lots of webservers, and a bit more thrown in.

We operate on values and principles rather than rules, policies, and procedures. This means you'll have lots of freedom in terms of doing what you think is right, but it also comes with great individual responsibility. We really like people who dare to be different and think for themselves.
Some things we’re big on: innovation, making mistakes (and learning from them), technical challenges and elegant solutions, openness and transparency, open source, lifelong learning, Python, and playing Magic the Gathering.

Some things we’re not so big on: bureaucracy, making the same mistake twice, slowness, corporate politics, repetitive tasks, hierarchy, Internet Explorer, Java, and talking about soccer.
