Hello,

We have a job opening that might be of interest to MySQL folks, (though admittedly the job is more focussed on PHP than MySQL). I copied it below so people don't have to leave the forum to check it out. Thanks for taking a look. Mods - if this job is innapropriate for this forum, please feel free to remove it.

World domination through better code isn't easy, so Wondermill is looking to hire some programming muscle. We've been around awhile (started in 1998) and our focus is helping companies interact with and learn from their website visitors. Currently over 130,000 sites use our services and we're growing quickly.

Our company culture is a little unusual, because we all work remotely from wherever we like, usually in our pajamas. Working remotely means we can avoid much of the bureaucracy that comes with a desk job and we have more freedom over our work. So far, so good right? There's a catch! Just like mom always said, with great freedom comes great responsibility. Which brings us to...

Who are you?

You're a go-getter who takes initiative and gets things done. People can count on you. You're always surprising everyone else by saying things like "Ok, that's done. What else can I do?" You're set up to work from home, and you like working there. (It doesn't matter where 'home' is - we want to hire the best in the world. We're ambitious like that.)

On the technical side, we're looking for hackers in the old sense of the word. People who love to solve puzzles and learn new things. We don't care if you've gone to school or you've taught yourself everything. We're looking for people who LOVE to code and really know their stuff. and by 'stuff' we mean:

Technical

* Experience with PHP and relational DB experience with MySQL or PostgreSQL. (Bonus points for RoR experience too...)
* Good understanding of the application Service Provider development model.
* Bonus Points for MVC experience with PHP (eg. Mojavi framework)
* ability to analyze time efficiency of code and optimize it.
* Experience developing in a Linux environment.
* You write clean, easy-to-understand code.

That other stuff

* You think end-users are important people who keep the lights on, rather than an annoyance that must be tolerated.
* You're willing to roll up your sleeves and do jobs that aren't always interesting, if that's what needs to happen.
* You want a long-term relationship with a company that respects you and is worthy of your time.
* People like working with you and they're willing to tell us as much in a reference letter or phone call.
* You prefer working in a team to flying solo.

Job Description

This is a full-time, contract position. The job starts right away, but initially we'll tackle a smaller project together to see how we work together.

Officially, we're looking for someone to help us build out our current services. That means implementing new features, working with end-users and our support department to squish bugs, all the while keeping the codebase tidy and clean.

Unofficially, being part of a small team means there's always unexpected challenges that pop up, so who knows what you might find yourself working on down the road. There's always plenty of variety in the work.

Deadline: We'll accept applications up until February 15th, and we'll make our decision by the end of February. In any case you'll hear back from us - our policy is to reply to all applicants.

If you're interested, the details at http://www.wondermill.com/code_ninja.html

** * One last thing! ***

Do you know someone who'd be perfect for this gig? Pass it along and we'll send you a check for $100 if we hire them. Make sure they mention you by name in their cover letter when they apply. (Caveat: Two people can't each refer the other!)

Wondermill is an equal opportunity employer, and does not discriminate on the basis of race, national or ethnic origin, religion, age, gender, sexual orientation, marital status, family status or disability. (Except jerks. Jerks need not apply.)

Thanks for checking us out!
