Optaros, an international consulting and systems integration firm, is looking to hire business-minded technical consultants to help build the company and maintain our established lead position in the emerging open source market.
The Job
As a consultant and systems integrator, you will join project teams that will be responsible for the full lifecycle development of custom application development projects for our clients. You will be involved in all stages of this process, including requirements gathering, design, development and deployment.

What You’ll Bring to the Table
o Technical Skills (2-3 yrs professional experience using):
§ Object oriented design and development methodologies/fundamentals
§ C or Java (J2EE design patterns) and experience developing server-side apps
§ Web development technologies (JavaScript, AJAX)
§ At least one industry leading database and on a leading application server
o Consulting Skills
§ Ability to gather client requirements and write documentation
§ Experience in facilitating clients through decision-making processes
§ Willingness to travel to client sites (averages about 30% travel)
o Nice to haves:
§ A network within open source communities
§ Experience with scripting languages such as PHP, .Net, Python
§ Professional services experience
§ Custom Application Development experience

Travel
Work is done at both the client location as well as the corporate offices. Each client engagement provides a new challenge for leveraging open source solutions and a chance to tackle challenging problems with new clients in a new location. When traveling, our consultants typically travel as part of a team. This is different from the product consulting model as many times a product services consultant will be traveling on his/her own to the client site.
