Union Restrction

I am attempting to create a merge table with 84 sub tables. I read there is a restriction of 61 tables allowed in a union/join. How do I bypass that limit, I have seen others with claims of up to 500 sub tables in a merge!

I think I may be mistaken. The 61 table limit is only on joins:
