Merging Indexes of tables of different format

Hi,

Suppose if there is a table M with columns a,b,c and there is another table N with columns a,d,b. And let the index be on column "a" of both the tables.

In such a case I won't be able to merge the two tables.I need some other faster way!.

If I could merge the indexes of the two tables(no duplicates in the index) , so that I can query it using the HANDLER command it would be nice, Is there any other way please suggest??

Thanks,
Senthil
