Re: Are selects in stored procs/fcts 'prepared'?

Hello Tom,

Stored routines are not pre-interpreted and SQL statements in stored routines are not prepared (this in contrast with Oracle's PL/SQL). Actually, stored routines are not compiled at all. After some basic syntax checking stored routines are stored as text in mysql.proc.

So, if you have a select statement in a loop in a stored routine you might consider to prepare the statement yourself.

gr.,
Paul
