In MySQL a "UDF" is a function written in c/c++ and compiled into the server. This is a stored routine, so I'm moving it to the sprocs forum.

You've shown us an Oracle version of the func. If you're looking for help debugging a MySQL version of it, you'll need to post that version. Help will be more forthcoming if you can identify the section that is not behaving according to spec.
