I'm not talking about writing to environment variables from MySQL, just reading. Apparently reading is not an option.
Also I'm also not talking about copying files from MySQL, the copying would be from the Shell script.
I read the backup documentation and over of the fastest options is to flush cache with read lock, followed by copying files from separate OS process, then unlock from MySQL when copy is done
I just needed a way to detect a signal given by the OS copy
