Aha!!
A "culprit" has stepped forward - indeed it was introiduced/installed "everywhere" by one individual some while ago but that info not promulgated fully.
So that solves the mystery of where it came from (if not where it went ... allegedly...)
However - for information etc
"where" does this function "reside" within the mysql instance eg schema/table ?
