We are also interested in the reason for this behavior. Our situation is reversed. We have the trigger on our slave to copy out historical data into a history table also on the slave. We are doing a BEFORE UPDATE. The trigger works, it does populate the new history table (all on the slave). However it breaks replication. We can not even gracefully shutdown the database afterwards. Any ideas?
