Hmm. That's what I was afraid of. Sounds similar to what my Oracle co-workers want to do. As this project will exist in both Oracle and MySQL versions, the Oracle folks say that they can write "dynamic sql" to implement essentially what you describe above completely within the database. I don't suppose MySQL is fancy enough yet to support tasks like this (e.g., bulk create triggers) completely in the DB without having to kick out to external code? We'd like to keep the approaches similar for each RDBMS.
