Feature request: transaction id visible to a trigger

I'd like to be able to categorize trigger firings by the transaction within which they occur. I've taken a look at both the trigger documentation and the standard procedures, and I don't see anything obvious that I can use as a transaction id. The connection id is there, but there's nothing that, say, counts the transactions within a connection.

* Does anybody have a suggestion about how a trigger might retrieve or synthesize a transaction id?

* I tried to add a feature request to this effect in the "bug" area. I can do searches across the bug database (again, no sign of any similar feature request), but I couldn't add the request -- http://bugs.mysql.com/report.php rendered nothing but a blank page, and the source contained an empty HTML body.
