How to long previous record?

Hi,

I have a table: channels

and another table: history_channels

The only difference is one field called log_status which logs the status in the history_channels with N if New, Edit if Edited and D if Deleted

How can i create a trigger to copy..

1. The new record when added
2. The record before edit
3. the record before delete

without having to mention all the fields but just the log_status as well as log_date and log_ip
