How do I start?

Well, this said Newbies so here I am. MySQL is offered as a service on my webhost's site along with osCommerce. I am trying to create an ecommerce website. My knowledgebase for this particular area is nil.

So, just some basic questions to get me started.

I created a database and now it wants a table.
How many tables can one database have?
How many fields can a table have?
There are two boxes on my screen. One says Name: (I'm assuming this is the name for the table) and the other says Fields:. Is the Fields box supposed to be a numerical value? If so, can I add additional fields later if I do not have a clue as to how many fields there will be? Which, I guess brings the next question.
By fields, does that mean (referring to spreadsheet) A1 A2 A3 etc etc.. Or does that refer only to the column headers (ie Item#, Description etc)

I think thats enough to get me at least started.

Thanks for any help.
Lori
