Uninstalling MySQL

Due to a work collegue's well intentioned but uniformed help, my MySQL database is completed screwed up. My only solution is to uninstall and re-install the software but have no idea where to start. My hardware is a G5 iMac running OSX 10.3.1 (I Think).
My data tables have been backed up and are safe. I have carried out a search for MySQL files but as I'm running Dreamweaver and PHPAdmin these applications contain MySQL files so it is difficult for me to decide which to trash.

I am a raw beginner on Apple hardware, having been a Windows user for many years I'm at a loss as how to proceed. Your advice would be very much appreciated.
