Slow DB behaviour

Disclaimer: I'm an end user of an application that relies on a MySQL db.
I have absolutely no knowledge regarding any DB systems.
The reason for my susbscrition on this forum at this moment is:

I run a broadcast autonmation on Ubuntu 14.04.

- The on air module runs and responds promptly upon changes on the on air list.
- Log generation runs smooth.
_ Log Editing: slowwwww response. Any editing on a 24h log takes at least 1' to take effect, wether is a item moving, inserting, recording voice-tracks , etc. Undo actions takes the same time as doing them.

On the application forum I was suggested to insert

~innodb_flush_log_at_trx_commit=2
sync_binlog=2

on the my.cnf file. It used to work. All the operations took about a second to be accomplished.

I've made a fresh install of the system after format the HD. The insertion of those lines on the my.cnf file no longer improves the performance.
I'm don't recall where I placed them inside the my.cnf file back then. I don't know if that's critical. I'm placing them on the very end of it.
I ask for orientation regarding this issue.
Thanks!
