Re: settings in my.ini crashing server (start as a service in windows) (MySQL 5.7)

My fault - sorry

Installed with mysql-installer-community-5.7.11.0.msi as admin and no changes of paths

Path to my.ini
- C:\ProgramData\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.7\
- Windows 8

Path to Data and the included files
C:\ProgramData\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.7\Data
- they are updated each day so, the server knows his data path

Path to INstallation
C:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.7

But I do not think that the problem with crashing service comes from wrong paths.

Now the server works fine. In the my.ini the character sets are
- default-character-set=utf8
- character-set-server=utf8

if I change this to
- default-character-set=utf8mb4
- character-set-server=utf8mb4

then the whole service crashes

so, for me that means that there is the problem.

As I mentioned.

With the workbench GUI I can alter a DB schema to utf8mb4
