Re: Online docs not searching well
I've found the same thing. The search functions in the online docs, the MySQL bugs database, and even the forum aren't very good.
I use Google for most of my searching. You can specify "site:dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.0/en/" along with the keywords you want.
Or likewise, "site:bugs.mysql.com/bug.php" to find bugs.
Using Google in this way is a lot faster and more accurate.
