That is just the sort of problem a relational db like MySQL is useful for.

How to start?

- install MySQL 5.6,

- study the intro manual chapters and walk through the examples till you can do basics

- Walk through a process like that described in http://www.artfulsoftware.com/dbdesignbasics.html.
