What about specifying multiple "unsued" backend server at lauch time. It seems to me that mysql proxy could load balance between live database server. So if you specify 10 servers (db1, db2, db3, ..., db10) but only the first 3 are running, once you lauch the next one, mysql proxy will detect them and use them to balance the request, isn't it?
