Is there a way to use scripting without instantiating a Workbench session?

Is there a way to use scripting without instantiating a Workbench session? In other words, a way to run scripts without manually launching Workbench. I want to create "snapshots" of say two table relationships and create pdf snapshots. May not be feasible for other reasons (eg default position for figures is on top of one another.:)
