Mysqld-nt.exe shuts down all the time

I have trouble using the 5.0.2 alpha version. It constantly shuts down when doing different operations. Service starts but if I run for instance "Describe [tblname]" from the command prompt on the "mysql" database or open the MySQL administrator and clicks a database I get the message:

"Mysqld-nt.exe has encountered a problem..." and the service shuts down.

I run this on Windows XP Pro SP2.

I have tried installing on another computer running W2kPro and got the same problem, but now the message was:

"Mysqld-nt.exe - Application error. The instruction at "xxx" ref memory at "xxx". The memory could not be read" and the service shuts down again.

Can someone please help!?
