Hi,
problem is elsewhere, I think.
This happens, no after new grant priv., but e.g. when user (no all, only somebody) log in to PHPMyAdmin and click on "databases", after select one of the DB. PMA show all tables, but other PHP script cant "use db" anymore, after click on "Database" in PMA (show all databases for account) MySQL enable use DB in other PHP scripts.
Do you know why?
