Re: 2013 Lost connection to MySQL server during query

I'm facing the same problem. I run MySQL 4.1.20-standard on OS X 10.4.10 on my home server with a static IP. I believe TCP/IP connections are working, because I can connect from a laptop when I'm on my home network.

For security, I've disabled port 3306 on my router. When away from home I used to be able to set up an SSH tunnel and connect to MySQL through it. But for the past few months (I suspect since I got a new home server, possibly with a newer version of MySQL installed?), I get the 2013 error instead.

I've tried resetting connect_timeout from 5 to 20 and changing secure_auth from OFF to ON, though when neither helped I returned them to default. My full current variable list is below.

Hope someone has an idea--I'm sure it's a simple fix, but I can't figure it out on my own.
