Which is the preferred platform for mysql cluster?

I am having a number of problems that it seems not everyone has. I am using Debian Sarge 3.1, with 2.4.26-386 kernel. Is there a platform that is recommended for MySQL Cluster? Ideally not RedHat as I would prefer a free distribution.
