There should not be any problems with putting a management node and an SQL node on the same host machine, since the management server daemon uses minimal resources.

In production I wouldn't recommend having only *1* such host, since if it went down, you'd lose the management server as well as access to the data by MySQL clients. But having *2* such hosts, with each of these 2 hosts running a management server and an SQL node, provides redundancy in case one of these 2 hosts goes down.
