DataMemory and IndexMemory requirement

In refrence to this post I just wanted to clarify:

http://lists.mysql.com/cluster/1432

When running a MYSQL cluster, the equation:

(Size of database * NumberofReplicas * 1.1) / Number of storage nodes

Is this what you actualy need to have in RAM, or is it just a suggestion taking into consideration average usage.

Ie. If I have a 5GIG database which is replicated on 3 nodes then I will need 5.5 GIG of RAM per each NODE (AND THERE IS NO WAY AROUND THIS)

Is this last statement correct? And if this statement is correct are there any plans for a version to where the Cluster will not just run off of RAM.

Thanks for any information.
