ODBC config crashes when TEST is pushed

Environment:
Windows 7, 64 bit.
Office 2013, 64 bit.
Tunnelier for an ssh tunnel. does translation from 127.0.0.1:8806 to <IP-NIC>:3306
my.cnf with the following lines:

secure_auth = 0
#bind-address = 127.0.0.1
bind-address = 0.0.0.0

mysql-connector-odbc-5.2.6-winx64 installed.

Problem:
The ODBC connector crashes after configuration and when the TEST buttun is pushed.


If I do a telnet 127.0.0.1 8806 I get a response from the SQL server.

Now I start configuring the ODBC connection. I do an add, select the driver, Give the connector a name, IP address 127.0.0.1, portnumber 8806, username and password. I select to load the my.cnf. closes the admin panel, restart the admin panel, change the just create ODBC connector, push TEST. With a 2 seconds, the panel gets white, cancel to send MS report, and gone is the admin panel.

Same behavior with the 5.1.13 driver.

Any help is highly appreciated.
