Cant get MySQL started on XP

Ive loaded MySQL on XP. Also Administrator. Ive created a new connection using 127.0.0.1, a user name, a password and MySQL type. When I try to start Administrator I get error 1045, Access denied for user 'dcsas@localhost' (using password YES). What does that mean!? I didnt use YES for a password.
What I want is to simply use MySQL on my machine with VB.net, if I can ever get MySQL started.
Can someone guide me here please.
