Installation mysql 4.1 on debian 3.0

How can i realize this?
I downloaded the binary archive and tried to install, the following errors appears.

First setting priveleges:

m14s10:/usr/local/mysql/bin# ./mysqld_safe --user=mysql
Starting mysqld daemon with databases from /usr/local/mysql/data
040908 14:49:58 mysqld ended

and then starting mysql_safe:

m14s10:/usr/local/mysql/scripts# ./mysql_install_db --user=mysql
./mysql_install_db: my_print_defaults: command not found
Could not find help file 'fill_help_tables.sql' in ./support-files or inside ..


i need some help
