SQL Mode: Carry out UPDATE always?

Hi there,

I'm trying to configure my MySQL 5.1 Server to do a update, even if it isn't necessary (the value is already set).
The software I'm using does not expect an 0 return value, so it stops the entire operation.

My question: Is there an SQL Mode that allows me to configure the update behaviour?
