We figured it out.

Leave the 'Port' empty. We had tried manually setting it to both '32274' and '32275' and not had any success.

Note: for Windows version of MySQL Workbench, you also have to manually set the Fabric admin's password by pressing 'Store in Vault' and setting it there. If you don't, then trying to connect to Fabric will NOT prompt for a password, and will fail.

The *nix version seems to prompt for Password OK.
